Eighteenth International Poster and Graphic Arts Festival of Chaumont - France
序
One of the major events of the annual International Poster and Graphic Design Festival of Chaumont is the exhibition of the 100-120 posters selected from the entries in the international poster competition. The upcoming Festival will take place from May 12 to June 24, 2007, and we’d be glad to welcome you.
Please send us one to five of your best posters done over the past 3 years. All of the posters we receive are carefully filed and conserved in the Chaumont poster collection, which is a permanent and accessible resource. These posters constitute one of the finest and largest ensembles of international posters located in France and most likely in all of Europe, offering an exciting counterpart to the Fonds Dutailly, a collection of historic posters bequest to the city exactly one hundred years ago.
This unique ensemble is intrinsically linked to the Festival, laying the groundwork for the imminent construction of a Centre International du Graphisme ( International Center for Graphic design), which will establish Chaumont as leading forum for work, encounters, research and permanent exhibitions in the field of poster and graphic design. We invite you to take part in the International Competition 2007 by sending us your best recent work, whatever the topic. We hope you will join us in Chaumont for the Festival’s opening on May 11, 12 and 13 in order to discover the exciting programme for 2007 and to attend the Awards ceremony. An increasing number of students, professionals and general public come to the Chaumont Festival each year to discover the best in contemporary French and international creation and to pay homage to a key personality in the history of graphic design.

The competition shall be carried out in accordance with the rules and recommendations of the ICOGRADA (International Council of Graphic Design Associations). Any person taking part in the International Competition of the 17th International Poster and Graphic Arts Festival of Chaumont implicitly agrees with its regulation. The artists can present from 1 to 5 posters provided they have been created after January 1, 2003. The posters must imperatively be made on paper, no matter what printing method is used, and be realised following an actual commission.
The artists whose posters will be shortlisted agree to provide a second copy for exhibition purposes. The artists can present their posters as individual works or as part of a series (please mention it clearly on the registration form). The organizers reserve the right to reject the posters offending morality, or religious or national beliefs, as well as any and all posters breaching the regulation. All the posters received in the framework of the International Competition are given to the Town of Chaumont and shall be kept at the Silos/Maison du Livre et de l’Affiche. The Town of Chaumont is considering, in partnership with the Bibliothèque nationale de France, the DRAC Champagne- Ardenne and the Champagne-Ardenne
Region, creating a database collecting all the posters given to it by the participants of the International Poster and Graphic Arts Festival of Chaumont, as well as the old posters bequeathed to it. Consequently, the author declares having read and agreeing with the terms and conditions of the assignment and exploitation of the works handed over. The author assigns any and all property rights on the physical medium of the copy of the poster(s) given to the Town of Chaumont in the framework of his/her participation in the International Competition of the Poster Festival. Subject to the respect of his/her moral rights, the author expressly assigns to the Town of Chaumont the intellectual property rights (author’s rights, sui generis rights on the databases) related to his/her work. This assignment is granted on a non-exclusive basis. Consequently, the author remains free to exploit his/her work on any form of medium. This assignment is strictly limited to the non commercial uses that the Town of Chaumont and the Festival could consider for cultural, educational and/or promotional purposes as stated in this regulation.
This assignment is granted to the Town of Chaumont for all territories of the world, for all languages and throughout the duration of the literary and artistic property rights acknowledged by the French and foreign laws and international conventions, whether present or future, including the possible prorogations of such duration. These rights, which can be exploited directly by the Town of Chaumont for the promotion of its activities, include the right to make or have made: _ the reproduction, exhibition and communication to the public of the work in the form of CD-Rom or DVD, on the Internet network and/or on any and all other analog or digital media; _ the digitalisation, reproduction, exhibition and communication to the public of the work and its dissemination for promotional, scientific and/or educational purposes on any and all media (including but not limited to by means of exhibits, catalogues, press, television, etc). Consequently, the Town of Chaumont undertakes to notify on each medium and on the Internet network the prohibition for any natural person or legal entity to reproduce, perform and/or communicate to the public the work without the authorisation of the author, as well as the legal sanctions which would result from the breach of any such prohibition.
The exploitation of the works lies within the scope of the promotion of the cultural activities of the Town of Chaumont and of the poster and authorial graphic arts. The author expressly agrees to abandon any and all remuneration related to the present accord.
The name of the author, in his/her capacity as creator, shall be credited on each medium reproducing his/her work. The posters will be photographed. The author expressly authorizes, free of charge, to reproduce this photograph and the elements of his/her biography. He/she also accepts, in relation to his/her droit à l’image (i.e. protection of likeness rights), to have his/her picture reproduced on the physical medium and on the Internet network throughout the duration of exploitation of the work. The author guarantees the Festival and the Town of Chaumont against, and shall hold them harmless of, any and all actions for infringement of copyright or based on the protection of likeness rights resulting from his/her creation, and of any and all claims and/or actions on whatever ground by any natural person or legal entity, including any collective management societies, which would consider asserting any rights against the assignment hereby granted and/or any of its provisions.
