Here, the bath house provides a backdrop for Klein Dytham’s work and experiences in Japan over the last ten years. At the Bath House you can take an information shower and then soak in virtual water while watching manifestations of the convenience lifestyle that inspires Klein Dytham’s work.
Klein Dytham Architecture (kda) was established in Tokyo by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham in 1991. kda aims to fuse different cultures of east and west. Materials, colour, humour and technology are key elements in their work. Embodying the Japanese passion for newness, their approach evolves constantly, embracing the moment.
In 1999 the practice set up Deluxe, which functioned as an office and a venue for exhibitions and happenings. Due to popular demand, SuperDeluxe was born in 2002 - an expanded annex for thinking and drinking. Their ‘Pecha Kucha’ Nights are open events where anyone in the architectural and design world can come along and share a new project or idea by giving a running commentary on 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds. This architectural karaoke has proved a huge hit and SuperDeluxe has been voted ‘Best in Asia’ by Time Magazine.
